Awareness is not crude slowness
In today's so-called new age world, certainly influenced by a small part of Indian philosophy, there is a misunderstanding about the value of 'calm.' I’ve noticed, for example, that some people confuse awareness with slowness. If you ask someone to take a mindful walk, they slow down and walk unnaturally, looking like zombies. In some cases, I’ve seen people eat ridiculously, confusing slowness with awareness.
A mindful person can devour their meal, move quickly, fight, get angry, or speak in what might be considered a crude way, but they manage to do all this while observing themselves and remaining fully aware of the emotions and sensations passing through them. They aren't angry, but they're experiencing anger, which, like any object, doesn't belong to them, but they can choose to let it pass through and experience it.
