"Managing your limits" - Marco M.
Managing your limits
It happens to discover that, at least sometimes, some limits are insurmountable and managing them becomes necessary.
A few days ago we were at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. As soon as we arrived, we chose a random trail which we soon abandoned due to the altitude-induced dizziness that both Emanuela and I suffer from. We tried another one, but the initial defeat stung us a bit.
In the evening, we looked among the available options for a route to take the next day. We chose one that was not too long, 12 kilometers, but with more than 800 meters of elevation gain. The next morning, after breakfast and our fourth coffee, we arrive at the starting point of the route only to discover that it is the same one we abandoned the day before. We take it as a challenge and do not give up.
To manage the dizziness, I manage to navigate the many points where the path is very narrow and there is a sheer drop, always looking ahead and never turning towards the void, practically eliminating the thought and entering a meditative space. I thus learn to accept a great limitation of mine and, at the same time, how to manage it.
PS: The route was a wonderful (and terrifying) experience.
