Thai Massage is an ancient art which focuses on the body to address the ills of present day society and the various ways these can affect a person, both physically and mentally. It is an ancient form of general manipulation and therapeutic massage.

The combination of Yoga, Reflexology and Acupressure makes it a very unique healing art which is based on the theory of the 72000 Sen or Energy Lines (comparable to the Ayurvedic Nadis and Chinese Meridians) that run through the body. These Sen are avenues carrying the various forms of energy, such as mental, emotional and physical. When these lines become blocked, the energy becomes stagnant and the body loses its balance, allowing disease to set in.

Essentially it's a form of passive Yoga where the therapist, through using ancient techniques, is able to promote flexibility, massage the inner organs, increase blood oxygenation and ultimately provide a deeply relaxing experience.
Thai Yoga Massage is a shared experience, a gift for both the practitioner and the receiver, a chance to explore a meditative space through movement and breath.

Contents of the seminar

This course is a practical training in the art of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage. On completion of the course students will have a good knowledge of how to give a 1.5hrs full body Thai Massage treatment to practitioner standard.

We will look into the application of traditional techniques & stretches in 4 different positions: supine, prone, lying on the side, sitting.
Particular attention will be paid to the transitions from one technique to the next, to ensure you learn to perform a harmonious and fluid treatment, which makes Thai Massage such a unique and beautifully choreographed dance.

You will also gain a basic understanding of the Sen Energy lines and their location on the body.
Suitable for complete beginners thinking of starting a career in body work, for those who simply wish to learn an effective healing art to practice on friends and family, as well as alternative therapy practitioners (yoga teachers, massage therapists etc.) who wish to further their studies and increase their hands-on skills.

*3 full scholarships left!

Teacher's Bio

danilaDanila Ciencia developed an interest in bodywork in the late 90s when she started practicing Yoga and fell in love with Traditional Thai Massage. After studying in Thailand, she obtained an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy Physiology and Massage and to this day continues to evolve her practice by attending post graduate courses, workshops and getting as many massages as she can to keep her inspiration alive.

Her approach to massage is very holistic and fuses traditional bodywork techniques based on Energy Lines with Western skills and anatomical knowledge. Both systems are essential in achieving unity and optimal health for our bodies and minds; when functioning together, they create a better communication and a healthy range of mobility and structure throughout the body.

Danila is a member of the CThA and holds a Teaching Certificate from the International Thai Massage School (ITM) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
