"The necessary Ideal" - Marco M.
The necessary Ideal
Idealism is a Zen paradox. Having an ideal is necessary, because without it you have no direction and "no wind is favorable." It can become a source of frustration, because you have to pursue it with all your might, but like any authentic ideal, it remains out of human reach. Pursuing an ideal is a meditative form, because you are forced to go beyond the foggy blanket of rational thought, throwing yourself into action without any realistic hope of success.
The decisive action thus arises beyond the limits of the mind and becomes poetry, drawing a bridge between the earth and the sky. The human beings who commit themselves to this with devotion transcend their nature and glimpse the limits of the mythical city of Asgard.
