"Dark rooms" - Marco M.

Dark rooms

Every now and then, I listen from the sidelines to “spiritual” conversations that seem like a New Age version of Baci Perugina (the Italian chocolate equivalent of fortune cookies). Totally lost in a world of information with no idea what real self-work means.

Instead, one should get to know their animal, primordial, and reptilian side. It would be necessary to understand that what passes through everyone’s head in the form of thought is nothing authentic or real, but mostly a conditioning, a kind of compromise between biology (animal instincts) and what Freud called the superego. Most of the conversations I hear are from beings lost in there, hoping to find some sort of exit by buying the potion for happiness somewhere. Unfortunately, the potion is sold by other lost souls and has the effect of an anesthetic or a drug, but it has nothing to do with freedom.

To see the light, it is necessary instead to explore dark rooms, hidden places, to observe one’s fears without fear, to take note of the most shameful thoughts without shame, to understand the mechanisms that still drive the enslaved self. Until one understands them, there is no possibility of moving forward. Freedom cannot be bought; it is an achievement that requires time, acceptance, and a lot of effort. To see the light, it is necessary to love the dark rooms.
