"Balance as listening and searching" - Marco M.
Balance as listening and searching
Being in balance is the result of a constant search. This search is not outlined by a recipe, but is the result of sensitivity, feeling, and self-observation. One must not conform to something that comes from the outside but must listen. The point of reference is always and only within.
In relation to training, such research normally manifests in someone who is able to pair discipline with pleasure, having rules and knowing when to break them. Thinking of training as a bitter medicine that must be swallowed in order to feel better is a terrible approach. Training should always be, in part, play and lightness, which are not in opposition to commitment and discipline.
A man should support and nurture his virility; without virility, there is no virtue. At the same time, he should nourish an entirely feminine quality within, one that is compassionate, attentive, and observant. A woman should not seek, as is often the case today, to conform to masculine models, but should cultivate her diversity by embracing a natural 'lunar' quality, while at the same time developing strength and courage.
In essence, balance is an ideal moment, perhaps unattainable, that must be pursued relentlessly through strength, discipline (yang), and listening, sensitivity (yin).
