Is being misfits in a sick society a sign of disease or rather the opposite?

Taking inspiration from the series bearing the same title, I’d like to ask myself and you some questions. First, the series is excellent, it could classify as dark comedy but there’s also some drama and, above everything else, it features a romanticism that, for once, is not cheesy.

Moreover, it prompts questions such as, is being misfits in a sick society a sign of disease or rather the opposite? Is feeling existentially awkward the beginning of an issue or rather a positive sign of sensibility? Are those who conform really “the best”, “the winners” or rather, they are the most sick of all? It would be a pleasure if you could give a short opinion on this matter, your own personal one. As far as I’m concerned, tuning in the complexity theory, I think balance is for ever bordering on the edge of chaos.
