Welcome to the Hari-Om YTT at Tiskita Jungle Lodge, a truly natural place where everyone can have a profound, fulfilling and real Yogic experience in one of the last standing rain forests, as it was in ancient times in some remote dwellings and forest caves, but with the bonus of modern facilities and comfort...
"I had been in Costa Rica for a few days when I arrived for the first time at the Tiskita Jungle Lodge. Everything was already new and beautiful, but I would never expect such a joy in the faces of the family who owns the Tiskita, the prosperity of its jungle with clear waterfalls and giant trees, and the happy chaos of the family of Tiki monkeys who welcomed us at our arrival running on the trees above us.
The Tiskita Jungle Lodge happened like many things happen in life, without thinking. Another tourist told us about it and we decided to go and see why all his beautiful words for this remote corner of paradise made of about 20 bungalows nestled in the jungle. The owners, Peter and Elisabeth, decided to live in the area over 30 years ago and built there their house, and the more the family grew, the more Tiskita grew. Peter's mother was a pilot and when grandchildren started to arrive so did the aircraft runway for her to come visit them (If you don't know it's there though, it is quite impossible to see it as hidden among the trees). And then came new bungalows, and houses for family and friends, and after 20 years these bungalows became a touristic resort. Even if the word Resort is not actually the correct definition of Tiskita Jungle Lodge.
A touristic resort usually wants human work over nature, while here nature and man are in complete harmony with nature literally entering in the house. In most of the bungalows the bathroom is mid way between the jungle and the house. While having all the comforts of a "regular" bathroom there all the comforts of the jungle: in the shower, at home the radio, here birds, wind blowing in the trees, waves of the ocean, thousands of color of tropical flowers while washing the golden sand away.
Ah, the sand, the beach. Just 5 minutes walking from every bungalow, crossing the road an amazing scenario opens up. A pristine beach, palm trees bowing down towards the magnificence of the ocean, waves caressing the feet.
And you do feel like waking up in Heaven. Beach, palm trees, warm sun on the skin, lotus flowers opening in the morning in the pond by the entrance gate, and then the bungalows named after animals, the swimming pool between the trees and the ocean, the view on the sunset, the yoga deck where practicing becomes pure bliss, the sunset that melts the emotions in your heart. Everything is pure magic or Pura Vida, Pure Life as Costa Ricans love to say.
Meditation with eyes closed is almost impossible here. How can you close your eyes in front of nature showing all its beauty? The sun, the jungle and you. Meditation and asanas become the perfect union with what is outside and there's no more difference between outside and inside. Everything is one. Everything is complete. Everything shines."
